On 23 October 2017, a ceremony was hosted at the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s premises in Madrid at which the ultimate accolade of the World Tourism Organization for significant contribution to the successful development of tourism across the globe, particularly in educating university students in tourism lasting several years was bestowed upon Professor Slobodan Unković, PhD.
Professor Slobodan Unković, PhD, was awarded the accolade by Mr Taleb Rifai, the Secretary-General of the UNWTO.
The ceremony in Madrid was attended by leading representatives of the United Nations, World Tourism Organization and ambassadors of the European countries in Spain, from among whom, Danko Prokić, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Madrid, was also present.
This is a special recognition accorded Professor Slobodan Unković, PhD, who has been collaborating with the World Tourism Organization as an expert for more than forty years. At the same time, this is a significant accomplishment of Singidunum University and the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
In his address on this occasion, Taleb Rifai, the Secretary-General of UNWTO, attached a considerable significance of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Singidunum University to educating workforce for tourism and hospitality industry in the Southeast Europe.
In the early October, Professor Slobodan Unković, PhD, delivered a lecture in Marbella at the Conference organized by the World Tourism Organization. The lecture was entitled ‘Talent Development and Education in Tourism’. The conference was attended by more than three hundred participants from a large number of countries around the world.
