Prof. Miroslav Knežević appointed state secretary for tourism

The Government of the Republic of Serbia, at its session of August 4, 2017, appointed Miroslav Knežević, PhD, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Singidunum University, to the position of State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia.

Assistant Professor Miroslav Knežević was born in 1988 in Užice. He finished elementary school in Zlatibor, the Secondary Catering and Tourism School in Čajetina, as the best pupil of the generation and the holder of the Vuk's diploma (straight-A pupil). In 2007, he won the second place at the Republic competition in the field of economy and tourism. He completed his bachelor studies at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management of Singidunum University. Since 2008, he is actively involved in the student organization, first as the President of the Student Parliament of the FTHM (2008-2009), then as the President of the Student Parliament of Singidunum University (2009-2011). During 2010, he participated in the founding of the Students Conference of Serbian Universities (SKONUS) and was appointed a member of the Presidential Council. In the same year, he became a scholar of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

He received his BSc degree in Economics as the best student of his generation, with an average grade of 10 (ten). He completed his MA in 2012 at Singidunum University at the study programme Business Systems in Tourism and Hospitality. He was awarded the Young Leader of the Year Award for 2012, at the 9th Forum of Hotel Managers, organized by the editorial staff of the travel magazine Turistički Svet and the Association for Tourism and Catering of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. He completed his doctoral studies in 2016 with the highest average grade of 10 (ten) at Tourism Management study programme of Singidunum University. 

During the academic year 2011-2012, he was a Teaching Associate and in 2012, he was selected to be a Teaching Assistant of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management. From 2013 to 2015, he was the President of the Club of Assistants at Singidunum University. At the beginning of 2016, he was appointed Assistant Professor. He teaches several subjects at bachelor and postgraduate studies. Prof. Knežević participates in a number of professional, international and national projects (UN Joint Program Sustainable Tourism for Rural Development, Strengthening Student Role in Governance and Management at the Universities of Serbia in line with the Bologna Process, Strategy for Sustainable Development of Čajetina Municipality 2010-2020, etc). He is the author of more than 30 scientific and professional papers published in national and international journals and conferences. He was moderator, key speaker and panelist at several professional and scientific gatherings in the country and abroad. He speaks English.
